Pretty much every time there's a sweepstakes or giveaway or contest or whatever at Old Navy or anywhere, it's no purchase necessary. I think it's a law or something.
So we have some prize related to MLB going on and there was a paper about it at the register before it started.
So it was the first day the papers announcing the giveaway had been out, and I hadn't had a chance to read about it or anything. This woman picks it up and says, "Oh, what's this?"
"It's some giveaway coming up, I'm not really sure about the details, though."
She says, "Man, we should have bought all this later so we could get that!"
...Right, that's smart.
So I say, "Oh, it's almost always no purchase necessary, so if you want to win it that bad you can just come in sometime while it's going on."
(It actually turned out to be one of those QR code things, so you take a picture of it with your smart phone, but you can also send in a postcard.)
So anyway, I tell her that these things are pretty much always no purchase necessary, and here's her answer:
"Psh, no purchase necessary? Yeah, right, I wish!"
Like...I wasn't joking...
